ANNUAL REPORT BY P. SRINIVASA RAJU PRINCIPAL
On the significant occasion of 'Annual Day Celebration' of our vidyalaya, I extend heartfelt welcome to Shri. U. N. Gurjar,Additional Surveyor General, SOI & IISM , Hyderabad, & the Chairman, VMC, the 'Most Distinguished Chief Guest'. I extend a warm welcome Shri.U.N.Mishra, Deputy Surveyor General, SOI & IISM, Hyderabad & Chairman Nominee, VMC, the Guest of honour and worthy members of the VMC, beloved members of the PTA, distinguished guests, dear parents, guardians, Press and media persons, invitees, staff and my dear children.
On the occasion of 38th Annual day of the Vidyalaya , it gives me immense pleasure to extend a hearty welcome to the Chief Guest, Shri.U.N.Gurjar,Additional Surveyor General, SOI & IISM, Hyderabad & the Chairman, VMC. He is a great administrator and academician, he has been rendering his yeoman services in various capacities in the survey of India. Sir is closely associated with the Vidyalaya and has been a guiding light in all our academic and administrative endeavors. Indeed, we are fortunate to have you this morning amongst us. A hearty welcome to you sir.
I also extend a warm welcome to Shri.U.N.Mishra, Deputy Surveyor General, SOI & IISM, Hyderabad & Chairman Nominee, VMC, who manifests keen interest in guiding us in all matters related to the smooth functioning of the Vidyalaya. I extend a warm welcome to you sir.
I feel privileged to extend my heartfelt welcome to all the honourable members of the VMC, invitees, guests, Media and press personnel ,K V No.1 Alumni associations, beloved parents and guardians on this siginificant occasion.
I am glad to present the Annual Report of this academic session 2017-18 before the august gathering.
At the outset, I am glad to share some of the noteworthy achievemnets of the Vidyalaya. Our Vidyalaya was established in 1972 since then our school has been providing quality education and creating global citizens by grooming its students for all round, harmonious and holistic development. It is expanding the horizons of the world beyond the text books for which the Vidyalaya is crowned with five the most coveted awards, First Model School, Smart School, Star School, Accreditations by NABET (Quality Council of India), International School Award (2012-15) by British Council and ranked as First Best School in Andhra Pradesh / Telangana and 9thposition at All India level among 800 Government day schools in the Education World Survey, received 2 times with the most prestigious “GREEN SCHOOL AWARD” from “The Centre for Science and Environment" for the Academic Years 2010-11 and 2015-16.
Our students participate in competitions conducted by various prestigious organizations.
1)IIT Gowhati conducts Technothlon exam every year. It aims at inculcating new ideas among school children . 40 students from junior squad and 1 from haut squad registered and appeared for the exam.
2)40 students appeared for National Talent Search examination ie.,NTSE.
3) KVS organised Regional Maths Olympiad(PRMO) . 55 students registered and appeared for the exam and 4 students were qualified in it.
3)In IMO...International Mathematics Olympiad conducted by SOF(science Olympiad Foundation) 8 students got gold medals, 8 students got silver medals and 9 students received bronze medals.
BEHTAR INDIA
As a part of Behtar India Project , in collaboration with GHMC, ITC under the Programme WOW , 995 students of this Vidyalaya took part to collect newspapers and old note-books for recycling and reuse with a purpose to save trees . In this connection a huge quantity of 8343 Kgs of papers were collected and the papers were given to ITC in the first week of April.
Under the able guidance of our dynamic Principal sir Shri P Srinivasa Raju the teachers and the students participated in the program with a geart zeal and a great concern for the environment.
SCOUTS AND GUIDES
• 126 Scouts , 125 Cubs , 96 Guides ,134 Bulbuls, 25Adult Leaders are registered in Bharat Scouts and Guides for the year 2017-18.
• Two Scouts received 'Rashrapati Award' and received 2,000 rupees cash award each in the year 2017.
• 08 Scouts and 08 Guides participated in Rajya puraskar testing camp at K V AFS Begumpet and they were qualified for Rashrapati Award.
• Tritiya sopan Testing camp was held at our vidyalaya from 8th to 10th Sep 2017. 12 KVs representing 119 Scouts and 122 Guides participated in it.
• 10 Scouts and Guides along with 06 Adult Leaders participated in the 60th Jamboree on the internet on 21.10.17 at our vidyalaya.
• 06 cubs and 06 bulbuls participated in cubs and bulbuls utsav 2017 at K V Kanchanbagh from 24-26th Nov 2017.
• 10 cubs were selected for Golden Arrow Award for the year 2017
• 03 Adult leaders attended Advance training course in the Bharat Scouts and Guides at K V NTPC Ramagundam.
• 05 Scouts and 06 Guides offered voluntary services in medical check up programme conducted in our vidyalaya.
• 04 Scouts and 03 Guides participated in Rashrapati Testing camp at Dodaballapur , Karnataka from 13-17th Jan18 and the results are awaited.
FINANCIAL AWARENESS
Postal Savings : 30 students from Class 5 to 8 have opened recurring deposit accounts and the students are encouraged to save money.
TRAFFIC AWARENESS
Traffic Awareness Programme: Children from class 1 to 3 took part in Traffic awareness programme to inculcate awareness about Road safety rules under the able officials of Traffic Training institute of LB Nagar. Later , Manual signals along with its meaning were explained to the children of Classes 5 to 9. N.C.C and SCOUTS & GUIDES took part in the traffic drill.
FIRST AID TRAINING
12 Guides 22 Scouts along with 4 teachers took part in the the First Aid Training programme conducted by St.John's Ambulance Association, Koti.
CONCERN FOR THE NEEDY CHILDREN
Children from Class 2 to 9 have been encouraged to donate a notebook each and the collected books were given to the Orphanages.
Partnership with Government School.
As per the instruction of the KVS, we have adopted Mandal Parishad School , Chilka Nagar, Uppal. We invited the students of the school on Regional sports meet and other occasions.
The students visited the Library, Chemistry lab, Biology lab, CMP room. The students used microscopes and other apparatus in the labs. Mr. Ramakanth Reddy, Librarian explained the students about the availability of textbooks, reference books, newspapers, magazines in the Vidyalaya. Mr. Giridhar, Mr. M A Khaleel and Mrs. Vandana , the Senior Science faculty members explained the students about the availability of apparatus and resources in their respective labs.

Keeping in tune with the modern technology, we have computer-based learning, e class rooms, German Language e-class room .The school has umpteen number of software modules connected with internet and LAN. Technology put into greater use for all the day to day academic, co-curricular and administration purpose. Useful information about the school regarding admissions, pay bill, examinations, results, alumni Association, achievements of students and staff etc. are put up on our website which is updated from time to time. This can be obtained at the fingertips. Our present address: www.kv1uppal.edu.in which may be visited by the parents, patrons and well-wishers.
Modern facilities on the campus: The school is second to none with modern facilities available in the campus. 47 Spacious and well ventilated class rooms, fully established eleven (11) e-class rooms with e-learning Software. I AM GLAD TO INFORM that SANGATHAN HAS SANCTIONED 12 MORE Projectors along with WIFI IpadsTO THE SCHOOL. We have a well-stocked and well maintained library, 3 computer laboratories ( 3 LAN connected) ,four Well-equipped science laboratories (Including one junior science lab) and German e-class room, a primary Resource–cum-activity room with broad band connection, a teaching aids room , S.U.P.W room (For children to learn by doing ), a music room with a number of musical instruments to bring out and nurture the hidden talents in children .
Student Enrolment: The Vidyalaya has classes from I to IX with 5 sections each & X with 4 sections each & 3 sections in XI and XII with Science, Commerce and Financial Marketing Management which is a Vocational stream. The total strength of the students as on date is around 2,500 . This is the most sought after premier school for admissions.
Scholastic / Academics Achievements: The name and fame of any educational institution is determined by its performance in both internal and external examinations. In this regard, I am happy to announce to this august gathering that our CBSE Examination results for the academic year 2015-16 is :

xiii) GAMES AND SPORTS:
Realizing the importance of games and sports, the Vidyalaya provides necessary infrastructure and training for various disciplines in sports arena. Apart from excelling in inter-house competitions, many of our children have been taking part at the regional, zonal, and national levels and got selected in various events of Sports and Games at the prestigious all India level events & SGFI Level events.

TEACHER ACHIEVEMENTS:
Mrs. K. V. Rama Lakshmi, PRT and Advanced Guide Captain participated in Asia Pacific Regional Conference, conducted in Tagaytay City, (near Manila), Philippines from 18th to 23rd April 2018. It was organized by WAGGGS (World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts).
HINDI LANGUAGE ACTIVITIES
• Nearly 250 students participated in “MAHATMA GANDHI RASTRIYA BHASHA HINDI PRACHAR SANSTHA “ Examination With 100 % result, and , 4 students got gold medals.
• A Poem titled“UNCCHAI KA SHIKHAR “ was written by Mrs. SONALI MAITRA T G T (Hindi) . It was published in the magazine published by KVS , Delhi.
• A Poem titled “Nari ki mahanta “ was written by Mr. Sudarshanam P G T ( Hindi). It was published in “SAMAHIKA MAGAZINE” published by K V S Regional office ,Hyderabad.
Mrs. Sonali Maitra’s poem “Swachchta Abhiyan” was published in
this magazine.
All the poems were much applauded by the students and teachers.
I take this opportunity to thank all the members of PTA, distinguished guests and beloved parents , guardians for rendering their help in maintaining a meaningful interaction between parents and teachers, resulting in the all-round development of the Vidyalaya and its students. Lastly, my sincere thanks and deep sense of appreciation are due to my dedicated and hardworking team of staff who put in all their efforts for the welfare and education of students.My appreciation to all my beloved children who have contributed their best in all the curricular and co-curricular activities to bring laurels to themselves and to Vidyalaya.
We are looking forward to have the continued support of all the well-wishers, for taking the Vidyalaya to still newer heights & achievements in the years to come.
